I realize looking at these photos that this smoothie would have been a perfect drink for St. Patrick’s Day! What a lovely green color. But such is the life of a food blogger, trying to keep up with holidays, trends and other bloggers, while they just pass me by…. =) So instead of stressing about keeping up, I just post what I want when I feel like it. I hope that works for all of you.
This smoothie is one I’ve been wanting to make for quite some time. The first time I had a green tea smoothie was when I was living in Hawaii and I ordered the Matcha Green Tea Smoothie from Jamba Juice…and yum. I was hooked. From there, I tried the Green Tea Frappucino at Starbucks and double yum! It was official. I love matcha green tea. And so this smoothie was born. I also love the fact it has turmeric in it. Turmeric is actually a root, ground into a powder, and it has SO many health benefits.
All you need is a blender. Throw in all the ingredients and you have yourself an amazingly refreshing breakfast or healthy snack.
Turmeric Green Tea Smoothie (Vegan, Gluten Free) Print Prep time 5 mins Total time 5 mins Serves: 2 smoothies (or 1 large) Ingredients ½ teaspoon matcha green tea powder ½ teaspoon turmeric 1 medium banana ¼ avocado 1 cup fresh spinach 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 tablespoon agave or maple syrup (add more or less depending on how sweet you like it) 7-10 ice cubes (depending on thickness preferred) Instructions Add all ingredients to blender.
